In 2024, Girls Excel, in partnership with the Ignite Consortium, launched a new project aimed at enhancing the institutional capacity of Girls Excel to challenge and dismantle harmful social and traditional norms. These norms often hinder the empowerment of adolescent girls and limit their access to education and opportunities.
The main objectives of the project include:
Addressing Barriers to Education: Focused on tackling issues like poverty, period poverty, gender-based violence, child marriage, and forced and early marriages, which often prevent girls from attending school and completing their education.
Empowerment and Awareness: The project aims to create a more enabling environment for adolescent girls, promoting awareness of their rights, offering support for overcoming systemic barriers, and advocating for policy changes that better protect girls' education and well-being.
Project Timeline
While initial preparatory meetings have already taken place, the project activities will fully commence in January 2025, with activities aimed at strengthening advocacy, resources, and support systems for adolescent girls across targeted schools and communities in the South West Region of Cameroon.
